This past Saturday we headed to Stratford to see The Tragically Hip perform as part of the Ovation Music Festival. During our planning stages we decided to make a weekend of it and catch a Stratford Festival show on the Sunday. Y&K celebrating their first year of marriage (“Congratulations!”) also took in the shows.
Saturday’s Hip concert was a good one, as they always are, except for the fact that the average height of the fans in attendance was about 6 foot 5, and that the temperature dropped to only 6 degrees Celsius. So we were cold, and couldn’t see. But the sound was good.
That night we stayed at the lovely “At Eleven” B&B. Our host Jeff was friendly and welcoming – and the accomodations were stellar. Leah has already decided that we’ll be heading back next year!
Sunday saw us take in “Don Juan” starring Colm Feore at the Avon Theatre. I wasn’t impressed. He seemed arrogant and unbelievable. Now, the actor who played his sidekick Sganarelle was excellent! Live theatre of this sort isn’t my cup of tea, but the experience of going to the theatre is something I really enjoy.![]()
Other highlights from the weekend include some great chocolate from Rhéo Thompson Chocolates, an excellent couple of hours on the patio at “Down The Street Café” and two new pairs of shoes for me!! (Leah also got an awesome dress…)
