Our weekend at Loughborough Lake was a great success! Great friends, good food and awesome weather combined to make a memorable event. The drive out of Torontoon Friday evening was the only bummer… but we made the most of it by following Highway 2 for most of the route.
All three days at the cottage included lots of time in the lake as the heat of the sun made it a desirable location for all of us. After reviewing my photos from the weekend, it appeared as though Trevor rarely left the floating chaise! In reality, I think that Leah and I spent the most time in the water, but as the guy manning the camera there aren’t many pics of us. Trevor took lots of pictures, but I think that most of them were of Grant…
On Sunday Leah and I headed into Kingston to have breakfast with my Mom and Elizabeth & Adam. After a great breakfast at Denny’s, Leah and I toured around the city and ended up at Fort Henry. Aside from being a killer sleigh riding site, the best views of the city skyline can be found here. The wind was really rippin’ this day, and we watched as windsurfers tore across the open water towards Wolfe Island at unbelievable speeds!
As we hit the highway for the return to Toronto on Monday morning, we decided to take a more leisurely route back and not bother with the 401 until absolutely necessary. My alternative route took us along the shore of Lake Ontario from Kingston to the Glenora Ferry near Picton. Yvan and Kathryn followed us for most of the trek, and the four of us enjoyed lunch at Coach’s in downtown Picton before rejoining the 401. After a few more scenic excursions off the 401 through smalltown Ontario we eventually made it home to Toronto. Our long weekend, made even longer by the 7 hours of driving each way, was a lot of fun and has really kick started my mind into figuring out how we can get a cottage of our own…
