Sarah Silverman vs. Jimmy Kimmel

A few weeks ago Sarah Silverman posted this video:

And last night Jimmy posted his response:

The Betamax Doctrine & Last.fm

I’m a tech junkie and I love music. As a result I have some great computer equipment and make use of some amazing software such as Rogue Amoeba‘s Audio Hijack. It was with great interest that I read Paul Kafasis blog post on Last.fm’s streaming music catalog and the implications for recording tools like Audio Hijack Pro.

I worry that his fears may be realized sooner than later as the record labels are run by what seem like bunch of money grubbing monkeys stuck in the 1950s.

For those wondering about Last.fm’s streaming music catalog… well essentially you create a player based on your music preferences and it selects songs it thinks you will like and plays them – fully and completely – for you. You can embed the mini-player on your own website and have a personal radio station that only plays music you like!

It’s Like Christmas. For 40 weeks straight!

For the last few years around Christmas, enterprising Mac software developers have created promotions to move huge quantities of their products while creating a significant buzz about said products. This year a new offering from 20MacApps caught my eye, and my credit card! They are offering 20 apps as a bundle going for $40, a 90% discount from the final price. The bundle will increase an additional 1% in price each day until February 1st. Then, by February 1st, each new app will be revealed every fortnight (two weeks) and will be sold individually for $20 each (even though some could have been worth more!). And yes, they’re all new and exclusive apps, so unlike surprise bundles of the past, it looks like we won’t end up worrying on whether we’ll have a second copy of an app to spare.

Crazy finish to a football game…

The commentator is a little hyperbolous (?), but wow, what a way to finish!

Google Maps Streetview

Google Maps Streetview is very cool. I hope they continue to expand their coverage and not die like A9 did.

A Fistful Of Quarters

When I was younger I used to love playing video games – old-style arcade games were my original addiction, specifically Pac Man. But like most, I also enjoyed Donkey Kong. But I was never very good at it. Billy and Steve were. Check out the upcoming documentary about them: Billy vs. Steve
