Where Does The Time Go?

Really. I want to know. We’re closing in on Ewan’s half birthday – 6 months already. It seems like only yesterday Leah and I were buckling him into the car seat for the ride home from the hospital. It’s been an amazing 6 months filled with wonderful new experiences. Watching Ewan grow is incredible. Every day he changes.

Kindness of a stranger

“My sister bought a gift for your baby,” a co-worker said to me on Tuesday. I’ve never met this sister. I don’t even know her name. But she remembered that I lend my metro pass to her sister (my co-worker), and knew I was having a baby, so she bought a gift for a person and child she’ll likely never meet. You never know when you’ll encounter the kindness of a stranger, and it’s very heartening to be reminded that there are good, kind, thoughtful people out there.

It’s A Boy!

Come late June or early July that’s what I’ll be confirming when our son is born. This week we had our second ultrasound and were able to confirm that we’re having a boy. Is it coincidence or good planning that our son will be born just in time for me to take a couple weeks off to watch Le Tour???

Dan in Real Life

Yesterday we saw Steve Carell’s new movie, Dan in Real Life. First off, it’s a great movie – happy, funny, sad, touching – it pulls on all the right heart-strings. Secondly, Steve Carell has perfected the sad-luck character that everyone roots for; from Andy Stitzer to Michael Scott to Dan Burns, you can’t help but like the characters he portrays.The movie also presents such a wonderful image of family life that I couldn’t help but start imagining what it will be like for Leah and I to have a lake front home, and have all of our family over, playing in the yard, etc…

Life in War Time

One of my co-workers mentioned that his son did a project on his great grandfather and his time in the War, and used a website to find his enlistment information. I visited the site and found my grandfather’s attestation form!
