Domino’s Brooklyn Style Pizza

Wow. Last night we went all-out and ordered the Brooklyn Style Pizza, Chicken and Bread special from Domino’s and man, oh man, was it ever good.

Crocs.

Thank goodness that the cool/cold weather is finally here! No longer do I have to look at people wearing those silly crocs in place of sensible shoes… or so I thought!!! The folks at crocs, ever so smart, have created lined crocs for these cooler days and nights.

I understand the allure of crocs… for little kids. I can also understand them if you are walking around the house, at the cottage in and out of the lake, etc. but they are not everyday shoes. Just because they are in a colour and material that is unique does not mean that you can wear them with every outfit.

Hot Chicks With Douchebag Guys

This is something that has always confused me: What is it about douchebags that so many “hot chicks” are attracted to? And if you’re a hot chick reading this, you can probably attest to the fact that you’ve been with at least one douchebag in your life. What’s the allure? I’ve heard the bad boy theory, but there are bad boys and then there are douchebags, and douchebags are what most of these so-called wannabe douchebags actually are.

Today I was surfing the net in a lame attempt to help me decide whether I should pony up for tickets to see Matt Good at Massey Hall when I found this site. Matt Good himself linked to it, and in doing so convinced me that I need to get tickets to his show… despite the fact that it is currently sold out and scalpers might be my only way in.

Provincial Election Day Is Here!!

Woo Hoo!! Today is the day that my collection of complaint topics gets renewed and refocused… one of my favourite days of any year! My fingers are crossed that the awesome new public service ads will show positive results and get a significant number of people of their asses and into their local polling stations. If anyone in my condo does not vote I will be some kind of pissed off as all they need to do is go down to the party room – they can even do it in their pajamas if they want to!!!

I recall photos of people in the early part of this century, and even into the 50s, getting dressed up to cast their vote. Sometimes I long for those days…

Get out there and vote! 9am to 9pm are the hours that the polling stations are open. Check out the Elections Ontario page for the ID required to cast your vote if you do not have your voter registration card.

REVIEW: Matt Nathanson at the El Mocambo

Last night we went to the Matt Nathanson concert at the El Mocambo with Trevor & Dana, and Nicole. This was Leah and Nicole’s first Matt experience and he did not disappoint! Despite the nearly oppresive heat and humidity in the club, Matt and his band put on a rockin’ show that lasted nearly two hours. The set included the highlights from his new album (Some Mad Hope – in stores now) and a variety of classics and rare gems from his back catalogue.

For those not familiar with Matt Nathanson, check out his official site, and then take a trip over to the Internet Archive and download a few of his live shows – completely free and legal. My recording of last nights show will be posted to The Hip Tracker and the Archive in the coming days.

Matt Nathanson – Tomorrow Night!

Woo Hoo! Tomorrow we’re seeing Matt Nathanson at the El Mocambo!!! I am really looking forward to this show. It’s become an October tradition to see Matt at the El Mo – in October 2004, 2006, and now 2007 he’s performed there. And we’ve been at every show.

There may still be tickets at the door, so if you are looking for a great night out, stop by the El Mo!

Nintendo & Wiis…

I just read the following article and am amazed at three things: 1) How is the demand for this product still so high? 2) How the heck can they say that they will not meet the holiday demand? 3) I’ve still never seen one on a store shelf – but if I do, I’m buying it and putting it on eBay!

Reggie Fils-Aime: the Wii will not be able to meet holiday demand
By Ben Kuchera | Published: October 01, 2007 – 11:34AM CT

While in the past Nintendo of America President Reggie Fil-Aime has said the supply of the hard-to-find Wii would be “unprecedented,” that apparently means that the hardware will last five minutes on the store shelves (instead of three_ before selling out. The outspoken executive was candid when he spoke to the San Jose Mercury News (registration required) about the holidays, saying that “I can’t guarantee that we’re going to meet demand. As a matter of fact, I can tell you on the record we won’t.”

If you’re a parent with a child who really wants to play Wii Sports, those words may send cold chills down your spine.

Reggie’s advice for those parents? “They ought to stop by on a frequent basis. We’re going to flow hardware. It’s not that it’s going to show up only on one occasion. It’s going to be constantly flowing in.”

The takeaway message from these quotes is that it’s going to be a long, hard holiday season for those looking for a Wii. It’s amazing to think that this will be the second Christmas the Wii has been available, and sales have yet to slow down. In most cases, according to friends in retail, the systems never reach the shelves; they’re sold right out of the shipment boxes.

Good luck, and godspeed in the coming months. Hopefully we’ll be able to find a DS or two.
