Tour Day France: Our Summer Adventure

This summer Leah and I are heading to France to follow, and challange, Le Tour. (The subject of this post is a joke for cycling fans familiar with Bob Roll and his butchery of French words). Our excitement is growing with each passing day. I can’t hardly stand it.

To make matters worse (or better?) I got a new ride at the Spring Bike Show.

This summer I’ll be climbing the worlds most famous cycling climbs on a Specialized Tarmac Expert SL Team Quick Step. I’m hoping that I can catch up with Tom Boonen and Bobke for a picture or two.

We Sold Our Condo!

I’ve lived here for two years and two weeks, and now it’s sold. Soon to be someone else’s home. Phew! It’s stressful selling your home – every day you have to make sure the place is in top condition, no plates or glasses left out, nothing on the countertops, the bed made, etc, etc. I’m happy it’s done, but not nearly as much as Leah!

So thank you Sabrina, for buying our condo.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Way back in December I posted a preview for this film, and today we’re going to see it with Trevor and Dana! The early reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are good, so it should be a good time at the theatre.

 

Toronto FC :: 2-2-0 Woo Hoo!!

Picking up where they left off last year, the TFC faithful rocked the BMO Field from the minute we walked through the gates. The atmosphere in the stadium is incredible, and you can tell that the players feed off it.

The supporters in the south stands learned/created a few new songs during their off-season. My particular favourite is the chorus to “Hey Jude” except they replace “Hey Jude” with “Edu” as in, “Naaaaa, naaa, naaa ,na na na na. Na na na na. Aaaaaa Dooooo!” – a reference to TFC player Maurice Edu.

TFC :: Season 2 Kicks Off Today!

That’s right sports fans, today is the home opener for the second season for Toronto FC. Hot off their win in LA, we’re predicting another big win today to get us back to .500.

Leah and I are riding our bikes down so if you see us, scarves trailing in the wind, riding along Lakeshore today be sure to honk and wave.

Free Angus Burger At Harvey’s

Harvey’s recently ran an electronic promotion offering a free Angus burger with the purchase of any other menu item. Strangely I found two different version of the coupon – one expiring on April 9, and the other on April 27. Needless to say the folks at my local Harvey’s were somewhat surprised when I presented my coupon with the April 27 date.

Has anyone been rejected with the April 27 expiry version?

BIG IDEA: Transit In Toronto

We need to change the way people get around in Toronto. Here are a few of my suggestions:

  • Create a subway line under Queen Street from The Beach to Roncesvalles
  • Create a rapid transit link to the airport from Union Station – use existing GO Train line to Malton.
  • Create a three-stop train-style link from Union Station to Roncesvalle to Browns Line.
  • Follow the lead of London, England and assess tolls for vehicles entering the core of the city.
  • Provide tax incentives to people who ride their bikes – just like we do for transit riders.

We need to start somewhere.
